An extraordinary weekend full of incredible moments!
A look back at a magical weekend that brought together hundreds of people with a passion for grooming.
Two unforgettable days during which our competitors had the opportunity to demonstrate their talent to four exceptional judges.
Day 1 – Saturday morning!
Competition: the day began at 9am with the Asian Style, Beginner and Handstripping categories, judged by Umberto Lehmann, Victor Rosado and Valérie Sole. The competition got off to a flying start with some motivated and talented competitors. We were delighted to welcome a number of competitors who were taking their first steps into the world of grooming competitions, each of whom produced a fine piece of work and passed their baptism with flying colours. As for the more experienced competitors, they gave us a demonstration of their remarkable skills and delivered an exceptional job.
Seminar: at the same time, Sue Zecco led a seminar on the subject of ‘Commercial Scissoring’. At this event, participants had the chance to see a demonstration of a ‘Nounours’ cut on a Bichon Frise. Widely used in grooming salons, this cut requires a certain dexterity and impeccable scissoring. Thanks to Sue’s invaluable advice, participants were able to learn step-by-step how to achieve this perfect technique, as well as time-saving tips for grooming.
Day 1 – Saturday afternoon!
Competition: After a break, the competition resumed with competitors in the Doodle & Mix, Intermediate and Pure Breed categories, judged by Victor Rosado, Valérie Sole and Sue Zecco. In the ring, we discovered some passionate competitors who produced some very fine work. The concentration and technique impressed the spectators in attendance. The afternoon ended with the announcement of the competitors in the Asian Style, Beginner, Doodle & Mix and Intermediate categories.
Seminar: the Pomeranian seminar was given by none other than Mélanie Schmit, THE spitz specialist. During her demonstration, Mélanie shared her passion, her in-depth knowledge of the breed, her favourite techniques and her secrets for perfect grooming. Mélanie taught us the right steps and best practices, step by step, to take care of your spitz’s coat and achieve an impeccable result.
Day 2 – Sunday morning!
Competition: exceptionally, the final categories of our competition were held on Sunday morning, as we were hosting the Diamex Tournament of Champions in the afternoon. The day began with the Spaniel & Setter, Standard Poodle and Toy & Medium Poodle classes being judged by Umberto Lehmann, Victor Rosado and Sue Zecco.
An intense morning in a full ring.
The competitors produced some impressive work, showing off their technique and talent to our judges, who had a hard time deciding between them.
Once the timing and the judges’ deliberations were complete, the results for the Handstripping, Pure Breed, Spaniel & Setter, Standard Poodle and Toy & Medium Poodle categories were announced.
In addition to the rankings, prizes were awarded for the best transformations, as well as the All Around and Best in Show awards.
Seminars: on Sunday morning, we organised not one, but two seminars!
The first was given by Marcin Gubala, who demonstrated the commercial grooming of a Fox Terrier.
During his seminar, Marcin taught participants how to achieve professional grooming using a combined technique of comb, clippers and scissors.
This technique speeds up the work and saves time when grooming, while respecting breed standards, so that the dog looks as if it has been plucked by hand.
The second seminar, on the theme of Asian Style, was given by Kinga Gubala.
With an Asian-style demonstration on a shihtzu, Kinga taught techniques to speed up salon work, while honing grooming skills to perfection.
Day 2 – Sunday afternoon!
Diamex Tournament of Champions: see the article here.
Seminar: for the last seminar of the weekend, the great Victor Rosado (voted best judge of the year 2023) honoured us with a demonstration of an American cocker spaniel in the commercial cut.
During his seminar, Victor showed participants how to follow the lines of the cocker spaniel while cutting slightly shorter for an ideal commercial cut.
Thanks to his experience and teaching skills, Victor taught his techniques for fast, efficient grooming to optimise working time in the salon.
