An exceptional weekend of passion and excellence!
For its third edition, the Diamex Master Groomer competition once again attracted professional groomers from Belgium and abroad. These dog grooming enthusiasts met on April 12 and 13, 2025 for a weekend of excellence. Through the various categories in competition, each had the opportunity to highlight his or her know-how and technique, thus contributing to the promotion of the profession on a national scale and beyond.
An intense competition in which the talent and precision of groomers take center stage!
During two intense days of passion and excellence, competitors had the opportunity to take part in several categories. Of the 12 classes on offer, seven were the official EGA classes: Beginner, Intermediate, Handstripping, Purebred, Spaniel & Setter, Standard Poodle and Toy & Medium Poodle, all of which emphasize technical expertise and respect for breed standards. The remaining five showcased creativity, with the Asian Style category, commercial know-how, with the Doodles and Workshop categories, groomers still in training, with the Student Class category, and teamwork, with the Double Master Groomer (Duo) category.
Each performance was meticulously evaluated by a prestigious international panel of judges, made up of leading figures from the world of grooming: Toshinori Omura, Olga Zabelinskaya, Paola Acco, Magali Delaye, Umberto Lehmann and Kitty Ponnet. Renowned for their expert eye, kindly pedagogy and passion for grooming, these judges brought to the event a level of exacting standards and recognition that matched the ambitions of the participants.
Throughout the weekend, the competitors showed unfailing commitment, combining rigor and precision. Each gesture, meticulously executed, revealed their technical mastery and their passion for grooming. Their determination to offer the best of themselves illuminated every moment of the competition. Our warmest congratulations go to them for their dedication, their talent and the quality of their work, all of which contributed to making this an unforgettable event.
A unique atmosphere, made possible thanks to you!
The weekend was driven not only by the talent and know-how of the participants, but also by their kindness, fair play and solidarity. A profoundly benevolent atmosphere naturally emerged, combining professionalism and conviviality. This atmosphere, where competition meets mutual aid, fully embodies what we wish for the Diamex Master Groomer competition. Once again, this year’s event reminds us that the DMG is more than just a competition: it’s a place to meet, to share, to learn, to share passion, and to share moments together.
Learning moments guided by exceptional Master Groomers!
Beyond the competition itself, the weekend was an exceptional opportunity for participants and visitors alike, enabling them not only to experience the excitement of a top-level competition, but also to learn directly from the Master Groomers. These experts, who not only brilliantly took on the role of judge throughout the weekend, also generously shared their expertise through outstanding grooming demonstrations, enabling everyone to deepen their knowledge, acquire new skills and enrich their experience with the most advanced techniques and invaluable advice from grooming luminaries.
Toshinori Omura, world-renowned expert in poodle grooming and one of the world’s leading poodle breeders, did us the honor of not only judging the competition, but also performing two high-level demonstrations: a Continental cut, executed with remarkable precision and elegance, and a Puppy cut, highlighting all the softness reminiscent of a puppy’s look. An excellent teacher, he shared invaluable tips and tricks, making his demonstrations genuine moments of sharing and learning.
The Fox Terrier seminar led by Magali Delaye was another highlight. A true Terrier expert, she graciously shared her knowledge of trimming, a discipline she masters to perfection. Her pedagogical and generous approach captured the attention of both beginners and experienced participants. Magali transmits not only precise and rigorous techniques, but also all the love she has for her craft. Through her teaching, she communicates her passion, inspiring everyone to push their limits and strive for excellence.
The theoretical seminar on scissors, led by Paola Acco, renowned specialist and creator of the AKKO Scissors brand. AKKO Scissorsbrand, was a veritable technical masterclass. She shared a wealth of valuable knowledge on how to choose and use scissors according to hair type and desired result. From the difference between convex, bevelled or micro-serrated blades, to the subtleties of sculpting, straight or curved scissors, every aspect was addressed with clarity and precision. Paola also passed on practical techniques to optimize handling, achieve natural gradations without demarcation, avoid common mistakes and save cutting time. A rich content, perfectly adapted to groomers wishing to refine their gestures and fully master their equipment.
Olga Zabelinskaya, a true star of the US grooming scene, specializing in standard cuts which she masters with exemplary rigor, is also an undisputed reference in Asian Style, a creative universe she particularly loves. She gave us a demonstration of originality and finesse, grooming the head of a poodle followed by that of a bichon frisé, in this unique style combining technical precision and artistic expression. Her performance captivated the audience, illustrating both the mastery of form and the freedom of interpretation afforded by the Asian Style.
